Appearance

Eccentric. The first thing you notice is probably the big, dark bags under his eyes. Sleep? What is that? Ironically enough, he has the hair of someone who has just gotten up out of bed - black and haphazardly spiked in all directions. Blue jeans and a white, long-sleeved white t-shirt make up L's 'uniform'. When indoors or seated (in his usual crouch-like position) he doesn't wear shoes, but when forced to go outside he wears old trainers/sneakers and no socks. In fact, he never wears socks. Scruffy and far younger than he really is.

Personality

Genius, can I say more? An eccentric genius to be sure, with a mouth full of sweet teeth and an allergy to sleep. He doesn't wear socks inside or outside and takes off his shoes when sitting in his crouch, alongside invading the personal space of anyone around him. He believes in facts and acts to gain facts, but will only draw a conclusion when he is sure of the facts and has hard evidence. He's honest about his feelings and intentions when he's not trying to trick a person into slipping up or form a trap, but knows when to keep important information to himself. He's socially inept, possibly from an orphanage background (I think I'll claim artistic license and assume he has; it would explain a bit) and having to keep his identity a secret from others. He describes himself as being an "immature sore loser" and shows this when he sulks after he loses evidence to suggest Light was Kira. He'd quite shrewd and has his cynical moments, has a tendency to twist his words around to get across a finer meaning or trick people and can become easily suspicious when given the right kind of evidence.

Yoshinori Endo ((Why yes, I do have a horrible tendency to give stupid names.))

Yoshinori Endo is the alias given to L after his fake death. He uses this name for his day-to-day business, including inside the hotel. He has the ID, birth certificate, driver's license and bank accounts to match. He will have signed into the hotel under that name and will introduce himself as Yoshinori to anyone who asks. The purpose of the name is to keep his identity secret from anyone who has ever heard of 'L', particularly Kira supporters and especially Kira himself. After all, risking his life and throwing it away are two very different things.
